What photo works best for a resin portrait?

A single pet or person looking more or less at the lens, eyes in view, in daylight. Sharpness is optional: the typical Glazera piece is poured from a quick phone picture of the dog at home. What fails is a back turned, or a group of six on one 10 cm ornament. Upload a JPEG, PNG or HEIC.

What makes a photo good for a resin portrait?

The eyes. A portrait is built up in layers with the eyes last, and the likeness lives there, so the photograph has to show them. After that, daylight and a subject roughly facing the camera.

  • One subject: one dog, one cat, one person, or a pair who are close together.
  • Roughly facing the camera, so both eyes are in the picture.
  • Daylight, from a window or outdoors, which shows the colour of a coat as it is.
  • The whole head inside the picture, not cropped at the ears.
  • Any ordinary quality: a phone picture is fine, and sharpness is optional.

Upload it on the create page and Tedooo's design technology draws it as a resin portrait in about a minute, free, before any order exists.

What does not work?

A subject facing away, eyes shut or hidden, or a whole crowd squeezed onto one small ornament. Those are the photographs we cannot draw a likeness from, however good they are as photographs.

  • The back of a head, or a profile with one eye hidden.
  • Sunglasses, or a hat brim across the eyes.
  • A whole crowd on a 10 cm ornament: the faces end up too small to read.
  • A subject tiny in a big landscape; crop in before you upload, or let the AI touch set the scene instead.

If you only have one of these, try it anyway: the drawing is free, and if it still is not there, leave a note in the result box and a reply comes back from the bench that same day.

Which file types can I upload?

JPEG, PNG or HEIC, which covers a photo straight off an iPhone or an Android, a scan, or a picture saved from a message.

A screenshot of a photograph works if that is all there is, though the original is better. Your photograph has a single purpose, the drawing of your piece: it is never sold, never shown, never used for training, and it is wiped once the order is complete.

What if I have no photo at all?

Describe it. The create page has a second tab, Describe it, where you write what you want drawn, a beagle wearing Santa clothes, and Tedooo draws that instead of working from a photograph.

The same line is useful with a photograph: the AI touch lets you add a background or a style to the photo you upload, a beach behind him, gold leaf in the corners, and the design is drawn with it. What is drawn is what you approve, and what you approve is what we pour. How the pour works follows it from there.

How do I add a name?

In the name field on the create page, up to 20 characters, before the design is drawn. The lettering is part of the drawing, so you see where it sits and approve it along with the rest.

The ornament takes a name if you like; a panel can carry one or let the portrait stand alone. The wood slices take a name among the flowers, as the black cat Luna on the console does.

Questions this leaves

Can I use a photo of a pet that has died?

Yes, and many of ours are. An old photograph, a scan or a picture saved from a message all work, as long as the eyes are visible and the subject roughly faces the camera. If the only one you have is poor, upload it and see what comes back; the drawing is free.

Can two pets go on one panel?

Two who are close together in one photograph can, on a 30 or a 50 cm panel; the create page takes one photograph, so they need to be in the same one. On the 10 cm ornament keep to one, or the faces come out too small.

Does the background of my photo end up in the piece?

Not necessarily. The design is drawn from your photograph, and the ground, glitter and gold leaf, pearl or opal, or the painted flowers on a wood slice, replaces the room behind them. If you want a scene kept or added, say so in the AI touch line.

Will the drawing look exactly like the finished piece?

The design you approve is what we pour, so the composition, the colours and the lettering are the piece's. What a screen cannot show is the depth: the glitter and gold under the portrait, and the gloss of the clear flood over it.
